Namibia
I travelled from south to north and back again across Namibia, covering nearly 5,000 kilometres along challenging sandy tracks and endless gravel roads. A land of vast open spaces, ancient deserts and dramatic landscapes, where the silence felt as immense as the horizon and every sunrise brought the promise of a new discovery.
Along the way, I encountered the San people, whose deep connection to the land carries generations of knowledge, and met the Himba, whose traditions and way of life remain closely tied to the rugged landscapes of the northwest. In the wild, Namibia revealed another side of its soul: oryx galloping across the savannah, elephants roaming the desert, and unforgettable encounters with rhinos just metres away. As day turned into night, African sunsets painted the sky in fiery colours, while the Milky Way stretched across the darkness above the desert.
Through my lens, Namibia came alive: a country of raw beauty, extraordinary wildlife and enduring traditions, where the road itself became part of the adventure. A journey through vastness and stillness, shaped by the people I met, the wildlife I encountered and the landscapes that reminded me how small we are in a world that still feels wonderfully wild. — Anouk Sassen
